VR research studies
For more than 4 years, VitaSim has been involved in various research projects on learning and training with VR. We believe that technology can create better learning (if used in the right places), and we have participated in several studies that show that.
Students want more virtual reality
With our learning modules for VR Ultrasound, we strive to optimize learning and knowledge for medical students and healthcare personnel
Unlimited VR trainer
Watch how Jonas teaches you how to use the ultrasound machine through VR.
VR boosts learning performance
With our generic medical imaging algorithm, it has become easy to practice both CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, x-ray, and other modalities, as well as image guided interventional procedures!
VR UL POST-GRAD
The goal with this project was to further develop VR UL pre-grad to contain more training modules targeted towards younger doctors, as well as adding realistic cases with pathology for advanced training. The modules include training in Focused Lung Ultrasound (FLUS), Focused Assessed Transthoracic Echocardiography (FATE) and Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (eFAST). […]
VR UL PRE-GRAD
This project was a continued development of the VR UL pilot project in conjunction with a medium-sized RCT-study (n = 104). The aim of the study was to compare the learning effect of self-directed, VR-based training with traditional instructor based training, within the education of medical students in Point-of-care ultrasound. The project was done in […]
VR CEUS
The aim of this project was to develop a virtuel course to test skills within Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS), specifically related to liver lesions. The project was part of a PhD project dealing with standardising and improving the training and testing of CEUS skills for physicians. Hardware: Oculus Quest 2 (Standalone headset)
VR 360 CRYOABLATION
The aim was to demonstrate CT-guided Cryoablation of kidney tumors in a teaching setting. This was done by simultaneously recording multiple 360 videos and output from a CT-scanner during a cryoablation. A number of VR-experiences were then built using VitaSim Author and the recorded 360- and 2D materials. The experiences were made available via VitaSim […]
VR-SOSU PLATFORM
The aim of this project was to further develop our software solution to support the creation of VR-educational-material for SOSU-students and PA-students across different SOSU-schools in Denmark. The project was funded by “Syddansk OPI-pulje” and completed in collaboration with the Knowledge Center for Welfare Technology West. It included numerous scenarios, e.g., the use of personal […]
VR UL PVC
Development of a prototype that was used in a pilot study (n = 19). The aim was to examine the effect of adding VR-based training as a supplement to an already existing e-learning course in ultrasound guided insertion of peripheral venous catheter. Hardware: HTC Vive (Headset connected to PC)
