Create link hotspots

WRITTEN WALK-THROUGH

In this section, we’ll go through how you create link hotspots in VitaSim Author.

Building link hotspots

Creating a link hotspot can be done in two ways:

  1. You’re linking to another training room
  2. You’re linking to content such as pictures or recordings

If you’re linking between training rooms, here’s what you do:

  1. Open your menu and click the ’Manage’ tab, then click ’Training Rooms’ on the left side of the menu
  2. Locate the training room you want to link to and click on the link icon in the adjoining white box
  3. An arrow and a link icon appears. Grab it and place it where you want it to be. Make sure it’s visible and not in the way of anything important
  4. Click the ’A’ button on your controller to bring out the ’asset menu’. From here you’ll be able to customize your hotspot, e.g. change the link icon, scale it, change colors and more

If you want to link to content such as pictures, 2D or 360 recordings, here’s what you do:

  1. Click ’create’ and then add objects
  2. Choose ’Equipment’ and then ’Content hotspot’. A link icon appears along a blue box, where you’re asked to enter a content code
  3. Grab and place the object where you want it to be. Make sure it is easy for the user to spot and not in the way of other important infomation
  4. To establish a link to another picture, recording, room etc., you’ll need to enter it’s content code in the blue box. Go to your ’Manage’ tab and locate the specific content you want to link to
  5. Once you have found your content, you’ll notice a padlock icon in the adjoining white box. Click the padlock and a four letter code appears underneath
  6. Enter those four letters in the blue box next to your content hotspot and click the check mark to activate. Make sure you click on the ’content code’ field before you start typing
  7. Click the ’A’ button on your controller to bring out the ’asset menu’. From here you’ll be able to customize your hotspot, e.g. change the link icon, scale it, change colors and more
